KHOO TECK PUAT HOSPITAL, Ecopuncture Asia

One of eight public hospitals in Singapore, the Khoo Teck Puat Hospital is laid out in a V-shaped configuration of blocks, enclosing a central court. The most visible of its systems are the blue and green landscape elements extending outwards from this court. A network of public pathways and social spaces is overlaid onto this ecosystem. In 2005, in the midst of construction, the hospital team expanded its blue-green footprint by adopting an adjacent stormwater pond. Concrete edges of the waterbody were hacked away, and aquatic plants brought in to clean the water, and create ecological niches. A walking trail was added, linking it to hospital grounds and a nearby public housing estate. Find out more... Ecopuncture: Transforming Architecture and Urbanism in Asia. www.ecopuncture-asia.com
