John Christian's Studio Sessions: Chapter 1 | Layering Part I.
Welcome to the 1st chapter of John Christian's Studio Sessions. The first subject that John approaches is 'Layering' and he structures this matter within 3 chapters. On 'Layering part I' John explains us what is 'Layering', and the first steps of it. With this technique you can be different from all the others who are just using synthesizer presets. The basics of the layering principal are to combine two or more sounds from different sources to achieve a recognizable signature sound. Layering adds width, depth and overall thickness to your sound and allows very detailed tonal sculpting. Layering is comparable to an orchestra combining multiple instrumentalists in a proper arrangement to create more depth and power to achieve a more complex and interesting outcome. Sensible layering techniques will give you full control over the role that every single layer may play, the clearness of the actual melody and frequency mishaps such as cancellation and clashing. John Christian goes through Layering techniques within chapter #1, #2 and #3.
