(15) PEÓN PASADO: Korchnoi - Mikenas, URSS (ch) 1970. Creación de fuerte peón libre apoyado por T

Viktor Korchnoi easily creates a passed pawn supported by a rook from behind. With no blocker to stop this pawn, the task is easy. Of course, the fact that he relinquished the central tension (Black should have kept ...c5 attacking the d4 pawn; instead, they advanced ...c4, which gave White a lot of freedom to act in the center) made things easier. Some will undoubtedly say that the blame lies with the Tarrasch Variation of the Queen's Gambit. But as a young Kasparov once showed, that variation is playable (but keeping the black pawn on c5). It's just very demanding for Black... My apologies again if the video is long, or for the use of engines (I always try to explain the underlying idea behind the move suggested by Stockfish). For me, making these videos for students, and also for myself, is a way to stay active in chess.
