The Jiji Branch Line of the Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) is the longest railway branch line in Taiwan, connecting Ershui in Changhua to Checheng in Nantou. After years of disaster repairs, it was fully reopened on June 25, 2026. A full-price one-day pass costs NT$135. Along the way, passengers can enjoy pastoral scenery and visit popular attractions such as Jiji Old Street and the Checheng Wood Industry Exhibition Hall. The Jiji Branch Line is approximately 29.7 kilometers long, starting from Ershui Station in Changhua, stopping at Yuanquan, Zhuoshui, Longquan, Jiji, and Shuili, before finally arriving at Checheng Station. Checheng Railway Station is the terminus of the "Jiji Railway Branch Line." Built during the Japanese occupation, it is 29.7 kilometers long, making it arguably the "longest" branch line of the TRA. ※Located between Mingjian Township and Jiji Township, the 4.5-kilometer-long camphor tree road is the famous Jiji Green Tunnel. These camphor trees are lush and provide shade along the road. Even in the hot summer, you can walk and hike in it without feeling hot. There is a sightseeing railway next to the road, and the painted train slowly passes by, adding to the poetic atmosphere. It is a good spot for many tourists to take photos.
