Crompton Greaves Ltd. Wood Alpine Ceiling Fan

Crompton Greaves Ltd. Wood Alpine 48” ceiling fan in luster brown, shown on an Anchor Roma four speed wall control. This one is an exceptionally rare G-logo ceiling fan, with only a couple still out there. I am fortunate to have one because of its oddity and rarity but the fan itself isn’t anything particularly special. It’s your typical Surebreeze fan, decent built and speed but poor airflow. My thing with it is really, the airflow almost gets lost because of its poorly pitched blades and the blades straightening out due to centrifugal force also doesn’t help much. You put that together with bearing noise and you overall get a subpar fan at the home centre. Flipping back to its positives, this motor is quite powerful and gets up to speed in an instant and the speed range offered by the control is also very pleasant and appealing. What I find baffling is that you get vastly differing images when you look up “Wood Alpine” on the internet and I believe that Crompton never properly marketed this fan, which evident when you see it missing from most catalogs from 2011 to 2015. Those were some of the reasons why I kept this fan installed for several years, but I recently pulled this one down replaced by different fan. But this one will never leave my collection, because if I do get rid of it, I will definitely regret it! I believe several years ago I had another one, where the Aura AD is currently up, but unfortunately that one is long gone so this one just has to stay.
