These excreters are children with primary immune deficient disorder (PIDs). It is important to track them because a vaccine virus can be turned into wild poliovirus and these children become living containers for the virus. Pakistan is close to polio eradication but children who are chronic excretors of the virus risk spreading it. They are children with primary immunodeficiency and it is crucial to track them.
