Donald Trump announced that an agreement had been reached with Iran and was to be signed on June 19 in Switzerland. He is already presenting it as a diplomatic triumph. Yet, the main objectives he set at the beginning of the crisis seem far from being achieved: no regime change in Tehran, no transfer of enriched uranium stockpile out of Iran, and no end to the Iranian nuclear program. The agreement stipulates the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, the lifting of US sanctions, and the opening of negotiations on the enriched uranium stockpile, which would remain in Iran after dilution. However, nothing is included regarding Iranian missiles or Tehran's regional alliances. The ceasefire is also to extend to Lebanon, placing Benjamin Netanyahu in a delicate position: obey Donald Trump at the risk of weakening his domestic majority, or oppose him at the risk of a break with Washington. Is this agreement a victory for the United States or an acknowledgment of a balance of power favorable to Iran? Who are the real winners of these 106 days of war?
