What happens to a society where children no longer learn, but ask an algorithm? What happens to a country where lawyers, accountants and copywriters become redundant overnight, and a handful of people with access to the best AI models amplify their cognitive power a hundredfold? We are in the new Middle Ages — AI boyars and epistemological serfs. A world in which the difference between those who think for themselves and those who are “thought” by the algorithm becomes the new class line. Mihnea Măruță was born in Cluj in 1969. He was editor-in-chief at Cotidianul and Adevărul, and managed PressOne. In 2021, he received his doctorate in philosophy from Babeș-Bolyai, under the guidance of Professor Aurel Codoban. He published "Virtual Identity" at Humanitas, a book that Cristian Tudor Popescu said was "the best book about the real-digital-virtual relationship" he had ever read. He teaches Philosophy of Communication at UBB.
