Kann man Wasser aus dem Rhein bei Köln trinken? | Quarks

For decades, the Rhine was considered "Europe's largest sewer." Today, a third of Cologne's tap water comes from the Rhine, and in Düsseldorf, the figure is as high as 75 percent. But how good is the water from the Rhine near Cologne, and how good is its reputation today? Quarks reporter Marlis Schaum wants to find out how people rate the quality of Rhine water in Cologne and whether they're willing to drink a sip of freshly drawn water. We also meet Dr. Harald Rahm from the NRW Water Monitoring Agency, who shows us how tap water from the Rhine is tested. Incidentally, our tap water is the most strictly controlled food—even more strictly controlled than the water we can buy in the supermarket.
