How invisible suffering of mares and foals can cause devastation
Help World Horse Welfare today - http://bit.ly/1FuQRom When Buzz and Bee arrived, Buzz’s condition told a sad story. Underweight and weak, the poor little mare was using all of her energy to nurse her two day-old foal. Her suffering was clear – without help it wouldn’t have taken long for Bee to struggle too. When a mare carries and delivers a foal the physical impact is substantial, but it doesn’t end there. She must continue to feed her baby and without adequate care and nutrition both she and her newborn can quickly lose condition, suffer and even die. Luckily, Buzz and Bee are now safe with us and recovering– but the outcome could have been very different.
