Dejan Spasić from Topola, owner of the “Spaleone” Epagneul Breton kennel, is undoubtedly one of the most successful breeders and trainers of this breed—not only in Serbia but beyond. His many years of experience, extensive knowledge in the field, and notable achievements prompted us to visit the “Spaleone” kennel in Topola. Since its founding, the kennel has produced a large number of high-quality dogs that have earned recognition at numerous shows and trials, as well as in practical hunts for pheasant, hare, quail, gray partridge, black-breasted partridge, and woodcock—not only in Serbia but across many European countries. At “Spaleone,” the focus is on producing dogs with exceptional confirmation, a strong hunting drive, and the training to be indispensable partners for hunters. In other words, through careful selection, the goal has been to develop beautiful show specimens with compact bodies, strong heads, and noble appearances that are also highly efficient in the field, possessing a keen sense of smell, great willingness, and endurance. In this mini-series of 10 episodes, we will introduce you to the characteristics of the Epagneul Breton breed, with an emphasis on choosing a puppy, dog training techniques, and the experiences of our guest, Dejan Spasić, with this distinguished hunting breed.
