10 1/2 Miles Above The Earth! Aka 10 Miles Above Earth - Version 2 (1932)
Full title reads: "Zurich, Switzerland. 10 1/2 miles above the earth! Professor Piccard & Dr. Cosyns safe & sound after World's most daring & romantic scientific adventure." Zurich, Switzerland. Closer shots showing the ropes linking the gondola to the balloon. People look on. Tilt up to the base of the balloon. Auguste Piccard and Max Cosyns climb into the aluminium gondola. Closer shot of Piccard. He keeps looking out as the balloon rises into the air. Longer shots of the balloon rising. Piccard with others on the ground - his sequence is after his record breaking flight. Piccard wears a very fetching beret. Piccard walks to the gondola, housed in a hanger. It is not clear which of the men is Cosyns. Piccard climbs into the gondola. C/U as he sticks his head out. Piccard stands, with others, in front of the gondola, and says a few (sadly inaudible) words. Low angle shot of Piccard and others on the balcony of a building. He and Cosyns wave as they walk back into the building. (Much of this material appears in Safe - Sound & Serene - 32/68 - which has sound) Sound Track Missing. Alternate spelling for search purposes: Picard Note: There are two Piccards - Jean and Auguste. They are identical twins so it is possible to confuse them in some records.
