In this episode, I'll explain the cause of the dull thumping noise coming from the front suspension of a Volkswagen POLO Sedan. Yes, it's the shock absorber struts. Finally, at 65,000 km, I realized the car was supposed to be making that noise. Replacing the shock absorbers as a consumable to get rid of suspension noise is insane. I removed the relatively new VAG shock absorbers (I installed them at 37,000 km, but they wore out after just 10,000 km). Installed the old VAG shock absorbers (which I used for the first 37,000 km) Installed new Borsehung mounts (the gap is minimal - 2 mm, but the knocking is due to the old shock absorber) Installed new Lemforder thrust bearings Installed new control arms (purely an experiment, to make sure they're not the problem) New stabilizer bushings (I change them every 15,000-20,000 km because of the creaking) That's basically it.
