Sivas'ta Yaşayan Miras Şöleni başladı

The Living Heritage Festival, organized in Sivas with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, has begun. Over three days, 80 carriers of intangible cultural heritage from 58 provinces are showcasing traditional handicrafts to visitors. Sivas is the 8th stop of this year's festival, which is being held with the support of the General Directorate of Living Heritage and Cultural Events of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The opening ceremony, organized in collaboration with the Sivas Governorship, Sivas Municipality, and Pinhan Association, was attended by Sivas Governor Yılmaz Şimşek, Mayor Adem Uzun, Pervin Oymak, Head of the Department of Folk Culture at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and participating artists. Speaking at the opening, Governor Yılmaz Şimşek stated that the element that makes a nation strong is not only the cities and structures it builds, but that true strength lies in the transmission of culture, art, and traditions to future generations. Stating that Sivas has hosted many civilizations throughout history, Şimşek said, "Sivas, one of the most exceptional cities of Anatolia with its deep-rooted past, rich cultural heritage, and strong accumulation of civilization, is a powerful bridge of civilization that brings together the splendor of the Seljuk Empire, the elegance of the Ottoman Empire, and the founding spirit of our Republic in the same city." MASTERS SHOWCASED THEIR SKILLS Following the opening, masters showcased their skills in dozens of different handicraft branches in the festival area, ranging from traditional doll making to plant weaving, eggshell carving to mother-of-pearl inlay, needlework to wooden toy making. In addition to exhibiting their works, artists also demonstrated the production processes in a practical way at the event, which also included many traditional art forms such as woodblock printing and textile printing, ceramics, Rize fabric weaving, and rosary and bağlama (a type of Turkish stringed instrument) making. During the three-day Living Heritage Festival, visitors will have the opportunity to closely examine handcrafted works by artisans from all over Anatolia, learn traditional production techniques, and witness the preservation of cultural heritage.
