The management process includes four common functions that all managers perform to some degree. The functions include​ planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. Managers engage in planning by establishing goals and developing strategies to achieve those goals. Managers engage in organizing by developing a structure for the organization as well as the individual jobs within that organization. Leading requires managers to direct and motivate employees to achieve organizational objectives. Lastly, controlling requires managers to evaluate performance and take necessary actions depending upon the results.
