I/O Virtualization Use Cases and the RISC-V IOMMU Overview - Ved Shanbhogue, Rivos Inc. The RISC-V IOMMU technology unlocks a slew of new and exciting capabilities such as device passthrough, shared virtual memory, interrupt redirection, etc. and is a critical component to address functional, security, and safety requirements of SoC targeting a wide array of usages across enterprise, cloud, HPC, industrial, telecom, automotive, etc. In the talk will focus on following topics: - Motivations and use cases - IOMMU Integrating models - Software frameworks - and IOMMU role in Confidential computing Finally, we will provide a brief overview of the RISC-V IOMMU technology under development. This talk does not assume prior knowledge about IO and IO virtualization technologies and will mostly cover the underlying concepts to help the audience familiarize with the IOMMU technology and its usages.
