#madrid #madridcentro #turismomadrid During the Madrid Otra Mirada event, I had the opportunity to visit the Palacio del Marqués de Villafranca inside. It is not a possibility that occurs regularly, since these two buildings are not open to the public except for occasions such as the one that took place in October. Fortunately, they let us record videos inside and thus we can show much better what this visit consisted of. History has meant that the structure of the original palace has been quite diminished, but even so, I must admit that there were things that seemed totally incredible to me. The first of these is the 20-meter length that remains from the Christian wall that once defended Madrid from invaders. It obviously has nothing to do with the palace itself, but it is an incredible architectural landmark. And that it has reached our days in such good condition is simply wonderful. But it is that going down some stairs you reach the so-called "water trips", a construction even older than the wall. And it is that we have to transport ourselves to the 9th century, when the Arabs lived in the city, to know what treasure we are talking about. And that construction allowed drinking water to reach the city. Then you go up to the first floor and you can see different rooms, some more beautiful than others. The Ballroom stands out mainly for its decoration and its central lamp. The Old Cabinet is also very beautiful, especially for all the wooden elements that are still preserved. And the Honor Staircase is really beautiful, as it preserves the palatial style of the time. Happy Monday!
