Ejercicios para extension de rodilla
Exercises to Improve and Increase Knee Extension Physiotherapy at Your Fingertips Hello friends, today we'll learn a series of exercises that will help you improve your knee extension limitations. These are very useful in postoperative rehabilitation after a knee replacement, a lower limb fracture, or a knee flexion contracture. Ligaplasty procedures are not recommended, as forcing extension can damage the graft that replaces the ligament. Unlike flexion, knee extension progresses very slowly and painfully after any surgical or traumatic procedure. Therefore, if you plan to improve your extension, you must first arm yourself with motivation and patience. The exercises are as follows; you can perform them in any order you like. ROLL A SMALL AND LARGE BALL ON THE TREATMENT TABLE Just like with flexion, this exercise will be equally beneficial for extension. You will need a small, firm ball. Lie on your back and place the ball under your heel. It's so simple; just maintain this position, forcing your knee to extend. You can take short breaks every 15 seconds, bringing your knee into a slight bend to release any tension the position may cause. EXTENSION POSITION WITH BACKREST AT 45º AND POSSIBLE WEIGHT ON KNEE Next, you'll need two chairs and several cushions. Place several cushions on the back of one chair to be comfortable and maintain a 45º angle with your knee. Place one cushion and your leg on the opposite chair. Again, the exercise consists of maintaining the position, except this time you're much more comfortable. Taking advantage of this comfort, you can place a weight on your knee and relax with a drink while gravity does its work. STRAIGHT LEGS AGAINST THE WALL, STRETCH AND FLEX In the third and final exercise, gravity will no longer play the main role. More challenging to perform, you'll need some agility to position your legs against the wall. Supporting your heels, force your knees into extension. You can increase the intensity as your glutes get closer to the wall. This exercise, besides being excellent for extension, is also great for stretching the entire posterior muscle chain. CONSIDERATIONS. Knee extension is often very painful and difficult to work on. Alternate good breaks between each exercise to avoid triggering an inflammatory reaction. Be patient and work out daily. You can do the exercises morning and afternoon, dedicating about 20 minutes to each session. Apply these tips or share them; the knee is the joint most commonly injured. Think about it—you probably know someone who could benefit from our methods. Knee extension.
