The Indonesian Minister of Transmigration, M. Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara, emphasized the importance of promoting the economy in transmigration areas as a source of regional economic growth and as a step to improve the welfare of transmigrant communities. Several transmigration areas possess economic potential, ranging from agriculture and tourism to mining and the oil and gas sector. Therefore, through the national transmigration transformation, the government is not only relocating residents but also addressing land issues, building supporting infrastructure, and deploying thousands of high-performing regional human resources to support the local economy. To address budget efficiency issues, the Ministry of Transmigration is collaborating with relevant ministries/agencies to develop transmigration areas in the agriculture, oil and gas, mining, and tourism sectors. Furthermore, the Ministry is inviting investors to explore the economic potential of promising regions for development, such as Raja Ampat in West Papua and Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara. The Minister also continues to ensure that the development of transmigration areas contributes to Indonesia's economic growth towards the 8% target. Transmigration areas are encouraged to become industrial zones and industrial downstreaming areas, thereby improving community welfare and boosting the national economy.
