Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - North Maluku Province recorded high economic growth in the first quarter of 2026 at 19.64% (yoy), supported by the production sector, specifically the processing industry, which grew 37.09%. North Maluku Governor Sherly Tjoanda Laos stated that the downstream industry is a source of economic growth in North Maluku, particularly in the nickel sector. Currently, North Maluku's position as part of the strategic development of the new and renewable energy (EBT) industry is still in its early stages, so nickel downstreaming still has significant potential for significant growth. Nickel downstreaming has created jobs for the people of North Maluku, absorbing 100,000 workers, who also drive the property/residential sector and the food and beverage MSME sector.
