Woodturning - Sculpted Hollow Form Vessel from Kiln Dried Hackberry [Part 1 of 3]

This week I’m starting a turned, carved, sculptural hollow form made from kiln-dried hackberry. In this video, I walk through the full process of shaping the exterior profile and hollowing the interior using a variety of tools and techniques that woodturners of all levels will appreciate. I demo several different hollowing systems and bowl gouges, including: Trent Bosch hollowing tools Mike Jackofsky Hollow Pro Tools Easy Wood Tools (great for refining and smoothing the inside of hollow forms) This piece is pretty straightforward, so there’s no voice-over, just clean turning, carving, and shaping. If you have questions about the tools, techniques, wood choice, or the hollowing process, feel free to drop them in the comments — I’m always happy to help. If you enjoy woodturning, sculptural turning, or process-focused lathe work, make sure to like and subscribe for more weekly projects. They are simply demonstrations and are NOT intended to be complete instruction. Proper training and experience are essential before attempting to use any woodworking equipment. Do not attempt projects or techniques that are beyond your skill level or your comfort level! Serious accidents can happen in an instant and bandaging wounds or sitting in an emergency room is much less fun than woodturning. You are always responsible for your own safety. The only rules are: 1) Be careful; 2) Have fun.
