31 May 2026 • Orchid collection update: New spikes, summer growth, and a wild orchid find

A last-day-of-May check-in from the grow tents and garden. This week I take a look at new orchid spikes, growing seedlings, developing Nepenthes pitchers, and a few plants that are thriving (and a few that are testing my patience). We also visit the classroom terrarium for an unexpected orchid bloom, check on the outdoor prairie and high-desert gardens, and finish with a look at wild Calypso bulbosa (fairy slipper orchids) found blooming in the mountains.
