What started as a dream climb of Western Europe's highest peak became a day we'll never forget. On 15 July, our team crossed the notorious Grand Couloir on Mont Blanc. Just 3.5 minutes later, a catastrophic rockfall swept through the area, tragically claiming the lives of guide Pavel Žofka and one member of his team. Shaken by how close we had come to being caught in the same event, we continued cautiously upward. Despite the emotional weight of the day, we reached the Dome du Goûter. But with worsening weather, high winds, and deteriorating conditions, we made the difficult decision to turn back. This isn't a summit success story. It's a story about risk, judgment, luck, and respect for the mountains. Sometimes the strongest decision a climber can make is to go home.
