My youngest daughter has been very unwell and it really knocked me emotionally. I share a little about how I’ve been feeling, the mental load that comes with poorly children, and how challenging co-parenting during difficult weeks can be. It’s an honest catch up and a reminder that some weeks are just heavier than others. I unexpectedly found myself with a spare 24 hours child-free, so instead of sitting in the overwhelm, I decided to use the time to gently pick myself back up and do a few things that make me happy. I start by cooking my favourite dinner, a salmon dish inspired by Megan McKenna (so simple but so good). Then I head off to reformer Pilates for a much needed reset, before going to the cinema to watch the new Wuthering Heights – such a cosy solo evening. The next day I begin making another loaf of homemade sourdough, but this time it’s a double chocolate sourdough and honestly… it might be my favourite yet. We finish the vlog on a high with a special mummy-daughter date to the theatre to see The Hunger Games stage show, which was absolutely brilliant and such a lovely way to reconnect after a hard week. Don’t forget to like, comment & subscribe – it really helps my channel grow and reach more amazing people like you 🫶 RECIPES Double Chocolate Sourdough 460g bread flour 40g cocoa powder 50g brown sugar 100g active sourdough starter 375g water (add gradually) 15g salt Optional: 100-150g chocolate chunks Mix flour, cocoa and sugar. Add starter and most of the water, mix and rest 30 mins. Add salt and remaining water, mix until combined. Bulk ferment with 3-4 stretch and folds over 3-4 hours until 50-60% risen. Shape, rest 30-40 minutes, reshape and place in banneton. Cold proof 8-16 hours. Bake 230c 30 minutes with lid on and then 215c 20 minutes lid off with 2 ice cubes.
