Tiurun parantola

Tiuru Sanatorium has beautiful natural environment and good architecture. It is shame, because the house is ruined nowadays. Tiuru Sanatorium completed at 1939 by construction office Pyramid. Architect Jalmari Lankinen planned buildings. The Senior physicians house, sub physicians double family house and the central heating plant has been built simultaneous. The area of main building consist of 12 000 square meters and volume is 58 430 cubics. The center of building has eight stores, basement and partly attic. This part includes main stairway, parlor and offices for nurses. the north wing includes ward where patient rooms situates west sides and bath rooms another side of corridors. Long balconies are end of the corridors. The kitchen and staff apartments situates at the four store south wing. The east wing includes the dining room or assembly hall. The bakery and more staff apartments situates at the separate house which connected with underground tunnel to the main building. This house completed ten years later by architect Lankinen plans. The field hospital operated at the house during the Second Word War. The sanatorium converted to the lung and rheumatism special hospital at the end of 60's. The hospital has been shut down at 1993. The refugee hotel operated at the house at 1993-2012.
