One important one is weight gain - which is precisely why nutrition is extremely important during cortisone therapy: 1. Cortisone suppresses the feeling of satiety 2. Side effects can be reduced through nutrition Your diet should be a healthy, calcium-rich, mixed diet to protect yourself from osteoporosis, in addition to taking vitamin D and calcium. A low-salt diet is also important to prevent water retention. If you're unsure how to change your diet, ask your doctor for dietary advice. General tips: 1. Drink water before meals 2. Order your meals (salads/vegetables, meat/carbohydrates) 3. Several (4-5) small portions 4. Increase protein intake 5. Reduce salt In the video, I explain in detail which processes are influenced by cortisone and why diet is very important. In summary: 1. Plenty of protein, about half of which comes from animal sources, preferably fish and low-fat dairy products; 2. As little fat as possible, with preference given to polyunsaturated fatty acids: vegetable fats and those found in deep-sea fish; 3. Significantly reduce sugar consumption. The necessary carbohydrates should be obtained from grain products, preferably whole grains, potatoes, and vegetables; 4. Calcium intake of 1–1.5 g per day (contained in 1–1.5 liters of skimmed milk or buttermilk, or in equivalent amounts in dairy products); 5. Ensure adequate potassium intake: fruit, especially bananas, potatoes, and vegetables; 6. Use as little salt as possible; all herbal spices are permitted; 7. Plenty of vitamin C: fresh fruit and salads. ▬ About this channel ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ With "Video Visit Dr. Weigl," you have found the current, medical-scientific channel that describes topics related to medicine and health in an understandable way, but based on facts, guidelines, and studies.
