Any journey starting from Huddersfield's amazing station is worth doing, whatever the weather. Which is a good job because the weather in Yorkshire today is pretty awful. We get to ride a TPE Nova 1 through the heart of the Pennines on the short hop from Huddersfield to Manchester Victoria. Riding an Intercity route at regional train speeds on regional train seats. But at least it's just for about 30 minutes. The Colne valley still looks wonderful as we travel through the rain and the Standedge tunnel through the Pennines is a wonderful 19th century piece of engineering.
