Veterans Oral History - Samuel P. Calomo Sr. March 13, 2025
Sam Calomo Sr. was drafted into the Army in 1967. He trained as a combat medic, and was sent to Vietnam in 1968. He was part of the 199th Light Infantry Brigade, known as the "Red Catchers." Calomo would often be in the middle of fighting, and remembered trying to treat a soldier mortally wounded by a mine. He served in Vietnam until November 1969, and would receive an Army Commendation Medal.
