SRF1088 SRF SINGLETON SPOTLIGHT

2026 - Spotlight On Singleton Station A walk around the historic Singleton station on February 22nd 2026, while up in Werris creek for the birthday party of 4465 (see earlier video).    • SRF1087 SRF 4465 BIRTHDAY   Singleton railway station in Singleton, New South Wales, Australia opened on 7 May 1863 as the terminus of the then-Great Northern Railway when the line was extended from Branxton, bringing rail services into the Upper Hunter Valley and boosting the town’s growth. In 1869 it lost terminus status when the line was pushed north to Muswellbrook, but the original John Whitton-designed brick station building from 1863 still stands and is heritage-listed, reflecting its early importance; the station also once had extensive freight and locomotive servicing facilities. Notably, Singleton was the stabling point for the last regular steam-hauled passenger service in Australia, which ran to Newcastle until July 1971. Today it continues to serve regional trains on the Main Northern line and remains one of the oldest surviving railway buildings in the Hunter Valley. This is what the internet was made for...........possibly. Stay tuned for a lot more amazing footage from Brian. He has a lot of stuff that is sure to be of great interest.
