Next to the grain silos (Which Are Fantastic). You will find the free camping area located at the McGeever Recreational Grounds, which includes a great Dump Point for large Rigs like my RV and there are heaps of bins and a Free use of the toilets and showers. There are heaps of shaded sites and heaps of sites if you need solar as you can see on the full video review on the drone images., between St George and Mungindi in William Rd, Thallon QLD. Please remember this site is a bit of a dust bowl but and fantastic place to stay and all of the campsites are level. I really enjoyed my stay there. Just a quick heads up about the water, all of the water is Bore Water and it's very high in calcium. So please bring you own drinking water with you, showers are fine. You will see the calcium built up in the showers. Don't stress out because of the showers are all stained. And if it rains out that way the campsite can get a bit muddy, just be a bit careful. There is a small creek in the campsite which you will see in the Video Review, Please don’t park near there. If it rains the water will be around your Van. Unpowered sites are free, powered sites are $5.50 per night and the Keys available by phoning Francis Hotel on 0427 259 095 and there is more information below under the video review on YouTube if you need it. For all you guys that travel with dogs, this is a “Pet Friendly Area” with conditions. The Thallon Recreation Camping Grounds offers a great place to rest while enjoying a view of the beautifully painted silos in the backdrop. They even offer a large play ground for your kids, the play ground is about 4mins walk from the campsite. Plus there is exercise equipment in the park too and if you work up a bit of a sweat, all you have to do is walk across the road to the Francis Hotel to refresh. Lol!
