🔴 Lula inaugura primeira etapa da nova Serra das Araras no RJ

President Lula inaugurates the first phase of the new Serra das Araras highway in Rio de Janeiro. This phase includes a four-kilometer stretch of the new uphill lane, heading towards São Paulo, comprising four traffic lanes and shoulders, safety lanes, lighting throughout the entire section, and eight new overpasses. The event takes place near Paracambi (RJ), at kilometer 225 of the Via Dutra highway, heading towards São Paulo. Considered the most important highway link in the country, the new Serra das Araras is already 70% complete. The modernization of the stretch will provide greater safety and traffic flow in a region that receives approximately 390,000 vehicles per month, 36% of which are freight trucks. With an investment of R$ 1.5 billion, the project includes eight traffic lanes—four in each direction—shoulders, and 24 new overpasses, as well as two escape ramps. The works throughout the 626 km concession have received R$ 10.7 billion in support from the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), reinforcing the institution's role in supporting strategic infrastructure and logistics projects.
