1986 Commonwealth Games Mens 4+ Final

1986 Commonwealth Games held in Scotland (rowing at Strathclyde Park) Mens coxed fours final. Videoed from BBC coverage at the time and has been on a VHS tape for 34 years! The tail wind meant a fast first half, but in the second half the water got rougher and made conditions a bit tricky Steve Redgrave was aiming for 3 medals and this was his final event, he had won the 1x and he and Andy had won the pairs two hours before this race. Apart from this event, the summer was spent in the 2+ with Andy Holmes aiming to win the 1986 World Championships (held in Nottingham) 10 of the oarsmen winning medals in this race also medalled at the 1986 World Championships. The New Zealand coxed four won the silver medal behind the DDR. The Australian four was half of the eight that won the World Championships.
