Lake District Four Passes

This video covers the route taken by the Lake District Four Passes Challenge, and provides footage of Styhead, Black Sails, Scarth Gap, and Honister Passes. I started at Seathwaite, however the actual ‘race’ can start in Rosthwaite or Gatesgarth near Buttermere. Pass 1: Styhead Pass takes you into the high fells usually offering dramatic views of Scafell Pike and Great Gable. Pass 2: Black Sail Pass climbs up from Mosedale and descends into wild Ennerdale, I found this pass to be the most difficult. Pass 3: Scarth Gap Pass is the easiest of the four passes and leads up from Black Sails YHA and down to Buttermere. Pass 4: Honister Pass takes you from Buttermere for the final big push over the historic slate mine route and leads back down into Borrowdale. At the beginning of the route there was extremely low cloud and standing water, but once I reached Wasdale Head the sun started to come out and by the time I was in Buttermere it was cracking the flags and humid. #styheadpass #blacksailpass #scarthgappass #honisterpass #seathwaite #buttermere #seatoller
