The End of the World As We Know It (2025) *spoiler-free review & reading vlog*
Time for something a little different, but definitely of interest to all your Stephen King fans out there. Today, 19 August 2025, marks the publication of The End of the World As We Know It, an anthology of new short stories set in the world of King's The Stand but written some of the finest horror writers out there today. Edited by Christopher Golden and Brian Keene, and featuring an introduction by King himself, it features a whopping 34 stories set during, and after, the times of Captain Trips, The Walkin' Dude, Mother Abigail, Baby Can You Dig Your Man, and more. As Hodder kindly sent me an early copy, I'm really excited to bring you my review right and here and now. In it, I offer spoiler-free reviews and a mark out of five for all 34 stories - M-O-O-N that spells spoiler-free - as well as a broader review of the entire thing. It's a long video, but there's a lot to get through! EDIT: It's been kindly pointed out that I included a part of the vlog twice - whoops! That's what you get when trying to do something quickly! You can skip 23:45 to 32:19 :-) Once you've read this, let me know your favourite stories from it. And huge thanks to Hodder for the review copy - I am incredibly grateful! 00:00 Intro 00:09 Welcome 01:32 Background to this collection 02:12 Synopsis for this collection 03:19 All of the featured authors 04:08 My thoughts going into it 06:24 My reading vlog, including a spoiler-free review and rating for every story 23:45 Vlog section I mistakenly included for a second time! 32:19 Continuation of the vlog without repeat parts! 46:04 My overall review and outro Check out my recent reread of The Stand: • #6 The Stand (1978/1990) Re-Read: Original...
