My Thesis in a nutshell – Georg Pantelidis: Pottery as the Hard Drive of the Ancient World

In this FORTHEM Talks episode, Georg Pantelidis, classical archaeologist at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, presents his doctoral research on the Roman conquest of Greece and the economic and social transformations that followed. His work uses ceramic artefacts as structured archaeological evidence to explore production, consumption, chronology, market access and everyday life. By tracing shifts in pottery supply and local production, the project sheds light on how Roman institutions reshaped regional markets, connectivity and social life in the eastern Mediterranean.
