Vitamin D expert and critical care physician Dr Roger Seheult reveals why taking a vitamin D supplement does not replace actual sunlight and why the widespread belief that it does is one of the biggest lies in modern health. He explains that sunlight contains infrared wavelengths that penetrate up to 8 centimetres into the human body and directly interact with the mitochondria inside your cells, stimulating the production of melatonin that acts as a cooling system for your cellular engines. No supplement can replicate this effect.He tells the story of a 15-year-old boy with cancer who developed a flesh-eating fungal infection that destroyed his left lung. After his remaining right lung became infected, doctors gave him two days to live and recommended not resuscitating him. His dying wish was to go outside. The medical team moved his hospital bed outdoors, changed nothing else about his treatment, and within five days the boy was off his breathing machine. A CT scan showed 60 to 70 percent of the infection had disappeared.
