£800 FB MARKETPLACE BOAT, WILL IT FLOAT ?

After picking up this old £800 Facebook Marketplace boat (Marinergt16), my son and I decided to give it a new lease of life and see if we could get it back on the water with a full outer restoration ( full restoration video -    • CAN DAD & SON RESTORE £800 BROKEN BOAT ?   ) Over a few weeks we cleaned years of dirt and grime from it, sanded it down, gave it a fresh coat of paint, fitted a new linoleum floor, installed a new bilge pump, added new headlights & winch to the trailer and finished it off with some Scottish Outdoor Boy stickers. Mechanically, we replaced the fuel pump & ended up having to replace the carburetor due to me snapping the air mixture screw full video of this -    • HOW NOT TO FIX AN OUTBOARD 😂 | Mariner 15H...   With the refurbishment complete (outside only) it was finally time for the maiden voyage. I headed to Loch Lomond without Freddie to see if our £800 Facebook Marketplace boat was actually seaworthy (before taking my son out on it for obvious reasons 😂). I was so stressed about launching it for the first time ( due to the slip being very busy and having an audience) that I completely forgot to film putting it in the water, but once afloat everything seemed to be going to plan ( i will video the launch next time) Once on the water I spent the day exploring parts of Loch Lomond, capturing some stunning scenery and drone footage along the way. One unexpected highlight was spotting a seaplane operating on the loch and managing to catch it on camera. Of course, no trip would be complete without trying a bit of fishing. I spent some time targeting pike using a homemade Morris Mouse lure but unfortunately couldn’t tempt one into taking it. I had a “big” perch hooked but it got of which i was glad i captured on camera to say i atleast had one on 😂 & then just as I was preparing to head home and the sun was beginning to set, I finally hooked into a beautiful Scottish perch which put the cherry on the top of the trip. For a first outing in a boat that had recently been sitting neglected and forgotten, I couldn’t have asked for much more. Great scenery, calm water, wildlife, fishing, and proof that all the hard work refurbishing the boat was worth it. The only downside? I came home with a slightly sunburnt face, so sun cream will definitely be coming with me on the next adventure! Thanks for watching and supporting the channel.
