Surviving a Heatwave Wild Camp in Derbyshire

The summer heat was relentless on this wild camping trip to the High Peak in Derbyshire. Although this wasn't one of our longest hikes, the scorching temperatures across the open moorland made every step feel much tougher than expected. After reaching our destination, we pitched our tents within the boundaries of a shelter that was closed at the time, giving us a great base for the night while still sleeping in our own tents. With no campfire needed in this heat, it became a night of keeping cool, enjoying some good food, a few well-earned beers, and taking in the incredible views. I also managed to get the drone up to capture the stunning High Peak landscape from above, and you'll hear an original song I wrote especially for this adventure about trying to stay cool during a sweltering summer wild camp! Not every adventure is about battling wind and rain—sometimes the biggest challenge is simply coping with the heat.
