Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan confirmed that President Prabowo's flagship program demonstrates the state's commitment to the Indonesian people. The Food Self-Sufficiency Program demonstrates this commitment to the people, empowering farmers and improving their welfare. This is also being implemented through the 2,000 Red and White Fishing Villages program, which boosts fishermen's productivity through the development of 40,000 biofloc fish farming systems that rely on microorganisms for feed processing and feed waste processing. Through the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program, Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) are required to supply MBG food ingredients from local villages in collaboration with Village Cooperatives (Kopdes) and Village-Owned Enterprises (Bumdes), enabling them to absorb village food production. The target for the construction of 80,000 Red and White Kopdes is to initially build 40,000 units, with completion expected in September 2025. Their functions are to be optimized and not be like supermarkets. One of Kopdes' duties is to ensure targeted social assistance distribution, subsidized fertilizer and gas distribution, and affordable credit for rural communities. Zulhas also mentioned the importance of PSEL (Waste-to-Electric Energy Processing) to convert waste into a green energy source while addressing the waste problem that impacts the food sector. Therefore, by eliminating regulatory barriers that have been hindering the program for 11 years, the program is targeted to be operational in 72 locations by 2027-2028.
