Throughout 2025, Indonesia's fishery exports are projected to exceed USD 6 billion, encompassing capture fisheries, aquaculture, and seaweed. In 2026, amidst global turmoil, the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, is optimistic about maintaining Indonesia's fishery exports, which have consistently shown a growth trend over the past five years. Currently, capture fishery exports are destined for the United States and China, the primary markets. Therefore, to expand Indonesian exports, new fishery production centers are being established, such as the Integrated Shrimp Farming National Strategic Project (ISF Waingapu), the largest modern shrimp farming center in Indonesia. To meet fishery product export standards, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) continues to strengthen integrated supervision of the upstream-to-downstream fishery supply chain, including through certification and compliance with quality and health standards. In addition to fish, the KKP is also encouraging increased national salt production through extensification and expansion strategies to meet both consumer and industrial salt needs. A 200-hectare National Salt Industry Center has been developed on Rote Island, East Nusa Tenggara, which boasts seawater quality comparable to that of Australia.
