The building was located at 2429 Mansilla Street, and several times a day, a strange-looking woman emerged from it. It was Lourdes Di Natale, 45 years old. She was 5'11" and extremely thin. Her life was a whirlwind. In 2003, everyone knew she was going through a very difficult time: she had fallen into a deep depression and had recently been stripped of custody of her daughter. The girl had gone to live with her father, the already famous lawyer Mariano Cúneo Libarona. For those who still knew Lourdes, her nerves were understandable: She had testified in the case of arms smuggling to Ecuador and Croatia and planned to do the same in the investigation into the explosion at the military factory in Río Tercero. But she never got around to it. On Saturday, March 1, 2003, at 8:20 p.m., a security guard noticed the body of a woman collapsed in an inner courtyard. The media just broke the news on Monday: Lourdes Di Natale, a key witness in the corruption scandal during the Menem era, was dead.
