The word of God for today is: grow

TEACH US Psalm 90:12 “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” One of the greatest lessons God teaches His children is that life on earth is temporary. Moses, who wrote Psalm 90, had watched an entire generation come and go. He understood that life moves quickly. Because of this, he prayed: “Teach us to number our days.” This is not a prayer of fear. It is a prayer for wisdom. The person who understands the value of time begins to value God, people, opportunities, and eternity in a new way. 1. The Lord Teaches Us That Life Is Brief The Bible repeatedly reminds us that life passes quickly. James says our life is like a vapor. Yesterday feels close, yet years have passed. The Lord teaches us not to take life for granted. Every sunrise is a gift. Every conversation is a gift. Every opportunity to serve Christ is a gift. When we understand life’s brevity, we stop wasting so much energy on things that do not matter. 2. The Lord Teaches Us To Number Our Days Numbering our days means living intentionally. It means recognizing that time is one of God’s greatest gifts. Most people budget their money. Few people budget their days. A wise believer asks: How can I glorify God today? Who can I encourage today? What eternal investment can I make today? A day surrendered to Christ is never wasted. 3. The Lord Teaches Us To Apply Our Hearts Unto Wisdom Wisdom is knowledge applied. Many people know what is right. Wisdom is doing what is right. God’s wisdom teaches us: To forgive quickly. To love generously. To pray faithfully. To trust God completely. To seek first His kingdom. A wise heart sees life from God’s perspective. 4. The Lord Teaches Us To Focus On Eternal Things The world constantly pulls our attention toward temporary things. But Jesus taught us to lay up treasures in heaven. One day: Houses will pass away. Possessions will pass away. Achievements will pass away. But what is done for Christ will remain. The wise person asks: “What will matter when I stand before the Lord?” That question changes how we live today. 5. The Lord Teaches Us To Finish Well The goal is not merely to start the race. The goal is to finish the race. Paul said: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” Every numbered day is another opportunity to finish well. Keep loving. Keep serving. Keep trusting. Keep following Jesus. Psalm 90:12 is a prayer every believer should pray often: “Lord, teach me to number my days.” When God teaches us the value of life, we stop wasting time and start investing it. We become more grateful. More purposeful. More prayerful. More focused on Christ. And that is how a heart is applied unto wisdom. Proverb “The person who knows his days are few learns to fill them with things that will live forever.” Prayer Father, teach us to number our days. Help us to live wisely, love deeply, serve faithfully, and keep our eyes on Jesus. May our remaining days bring glory to You and blessing to others. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Cliché “A numbered life is not a smaller life—it is a wiser life.”
