Title: Generating an Atlas in QGIS Description: This learning object shows the steps followed to create an atlas from several maps obtained using a table field. Coll Aliaga, PE. (2022). Generating an Atlas in QGIS. http://hdl.handle.net/10251/183519 Self-description: This video provides a guide to creating atlases using Geographic Information Systems software. The process begins with creating a new project and adding cartography of autonomous communities. It shows how to configure additional views to facilitate geographic orientation within the map. The composer is then configured to generate an atlas, using a unique database field for each community. The steps for having the atlas control the layout and display of the map are detailed, including adjusting the overview and how to assign dynamic titles to each atlas page using concatenation expressions. The instructor shows how to change the symbology so that each community appears in a different color and how to generate labels with community names. He also explains how to create a rule based on atlas variables to isolate each community on its own page. Finally, the instructor describes the process for exporting the atlas to individual PDF files, resulting in seventeen separate maps. Although the example provided is simple, users are encouraged to create more elaborate layouts according to their needs. The video concludes by encouraging viewers to practice creating their own atlases.
