My final video of Caltrain’s original F40ph-2 fleet! Railfanning Gilroy on 8/30/24

20240830 This is the final video I will be posting with Caltrain original F40 fleet, as they will be permanently retiring starting tomorrow, with only units 920-922, the renovated models, being kept for Gilroy service. The Gallery cars are also being retired, including for Gilroy service, therefore it will be extremely difficult getting the cab ride videos since doing so in the EMU sets might only disturb the engineers due to the cab only being meant for them, and doing so in the Bombardier cars are next to impossible because it gets in the way of the crews’ cab. All we can hope for now, is that the original F40s and the gallery cars are preserved elsewhere and not face the scrapper’s torch. 0:00) Train L3 number 308 at E 7th St with 918, the County of San Mateo, in the lead with a friendly wave from the engineer 2:29) Same train departing Gilroy to a sighting 3:26) Same train backing into parking track.
