Gaya Spolverato begins with her origins, her family, and her childhood, and explains the reasons that drove her to pursue a career as a surgeon. She became a doctor to make a difference, to accompany her patients throughout their illnesses, and to have the opportunity to change their lives. Gaya is deeply convinced that a doctor should not limit himself to simply diagnosing a patient, but must embrace and understand that he or she is another human being with their concerns, fears, anxieties, and dreams. Gaya is a specialist in General Surgery, a lecturer, and a delegate for Equal Opportunity Policies at the University of Padua. She trained in Italy at the Universities of Padua and Verona, and in the United States at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. She practices surgery, specifically surgical oncology, at the University Hospital of Padua. She is the co-founder and president of the Women in Surgery Italy association.
