Alaska Moose Hunt: Two Idiots 6 Days 1,000+ Yukon River Miles

What happens when two idiots, a boat, and a dream moose hunt collide? Apparently… a 6-day, 1,000+ mile push up the Yukon River from Alakanuk, Alaska to Nenana, Alaska—and oh yeah, this is our first time traveling/navigating the entire Yukon with zero regard for common sense. What could possibly go wrong? Armed with snacks, questionable navigation skills, and the kind of confidence only inexperienced people have, we set out to conquer the whole river in search of the ultimate Alaska moose hunt. Along the way we battled waves, weather, sleep deprivation, and our own terrible life choices. If you enjoy wilderness chaos, unplanned adventures, and watching two adults repeatedly ask, “Where are we? How much longer till we’re there?” then buckle up… you’re in for a ride. We are not professional guides, river experts, survival instructors, or even particularly smart decision-makers. This was our first time traveling/navigating the entire Yukon River, and many of the things we did should not be considered advice, tips, or a tutorial for your own trip. Always follow local laws, boating regulations, safety guidelines, and use proper gear when traveling in remote Alaska.
