Soft steamed pathrode pieces simmered in a rich, aromatic coconut gravy make this a comforting and flavorful meal. Perfect for monsoon, festive occasions, or whenever you crave authentic coastal flavors! Ingredients 3 cups boiled rice (Ukda Rice) 3 dried red chillies 1 marble-sized tamarind 1 tsp salt 1 tsp cumin seeds Water (as required for grinding) Colocasia Leaves 15–20 colocasia (arbi) leaves For the Masala Roast the following ingredients on a medium flame until aromatic. Let them cool completely. Dry Roast 1. 5 tbsp coriander seeds 1 tsp cumin seeds 10 peppercorns 1 small cinnamon stick 3 cardamoms 5 cloves 3 short dried red chillies (for spice) 6-7 Byadgi chillies add oil & roast 1 tbsp oil 2 medium onions (sliced and sautéed) 6–8 garlic cloves 2½ cups fresh grated coconut ½ tsp turmeric powder Grind Together with roasted spices alongwith 1 marble-sized tamarind Water as required Grind into a smooth paste Prepare the Gravy 2 tbsp oil 2 tbsp ghee 1 large onion (finely sliced) 1 sprig curry leaves Heat oil and ghee. Sauté the onion until golden. Add curry leaves. Add the ground masala and cook for a few minutes. Add water to rinse the mixer jar and pour it into the gravy. Cover and simmer on low flame for a few minutes. Add salt to taste. Gently add the Pathrode pieces. Cover and cook on low flame for 10 minutes so the gravy is absorbed well. Garnish with fried onions (optional). Switch off the flame and let it rest for 30 minutes before serving for the best flavor.
