The Truly Shocking Murder Of Mary Newman - May 19 1888.
On the 19th of May, 1888, a brutal and shocking murder took place at number 53, Drummond Crescent in the Somers Town enclave of North London. The victim was 48 year old Mary Newman, and the savagery of the crime was truly shocking. In this video, we pay a visit to Drummond Crescent today, to follow the events surrounding the lead up to the murder and the murder itself. We see the various locations that featured in the darma - the local Workhouse, the nearest hospital, and Corober's Court where the inquest into Mary's death took place. We also follow in the footsteps of the killer as he fled the scene of his crime into a pub located, and still located, on a nearby market place.
