Yuriy Romanenko explains why Ukraine's corrupt and sluggish military is suddenly outpacing Europe. The political analyst begins by dispelling the popular myth that the Ukrainian military-industrial complex is merely a window dressing for Western technology and money. According to him, the opposite is true. The West didn't rush to Ukraine until local businesses figured things out, invested, and produced results. The vast majority of defense companies grew independently, and Western capital is either nonexistent or just beginning to flow in. Separately, the presenter addresses another misconception: that Zelenskyy is a puppet of the oligarchy. The war, on the contrary, has given the president a superposition in which the oligarchs have been forced to remain silent, and the state has gained the right to resort to violence under the pretext of self-defense. Zelenskyy is aware of the situation and maneuvers, but he is not a puppet. His long-standing prediction is also echoed here: back in 2019, Romanenko said he would become our Erdogan, and people laughed at him—but now the critics are silent. Responding to the question of whether the government is substituting PR for long-range strikes for domestic problems, the expert acknowledges the PR element, but insists that systemic decisions are behind the strikes. If in 2025, Trump said Ukraine had no cards, but now admits it does, it's the result of prioritization, as with the drones, and not luck. The model is inherently competitive: even the war didn't kill the internal struggle—Yermak was sidelined, there's a standoff with Fedorov and Budanov, and maneuvering is born from this multi-variance. Then the presenter gets to the core of his idea. Yes, Ukraine buys a lot from abroad—engines, components. But that's the essence of the established model. If you assemble a 3,000-kilometer-long missile from scrap materials, while Germany, with its money and technology, can only produce fifty a year, the outcome is a foregone conclusion. It's not the most advanced weapon that wins, but the most effective, plus a correspondingly organized army and state. The analyst grounds his thesis in the history of World War II. The Allies didn't win with superior technology: German Tigers were deployed in their thousands, while Allied medium tanks were produced in their tens of thousands. The Soviet Union produced 100,000 T-34s. Five Shermans could defeat a Tiger, and the Americans produced so many that they could defeat a single Tiger ten times. The German Type XXI U-boat revolutionized naval warfare, but it arrived late, with technical defects and without trained crews—only two went to sea, and they didn't decide anything. The same principle, according to Romanenko, applies today. While Europe has been coordinating its nomenclature for years, Ukraine has been manually relaxing regulations, and models are being rapidly introduced, adapted, and modified. Europeans admit they can't even keep up with the implementation of what they haven't even begun to create. Thus, the corrupt and sluggish Ukrainian state machine has outpaced not only Europe in a number of areas, especially in the military-industrial complex—and this, he says, gives the country a huge advantage.
