Using low-carbon concrete in Flood Defence construction in Greater Manchester
The Rochdale and Littleborough Flood Risk Management Scheme in Greater Manchester has been designed to reduce the risk of flooding to 723 residential properties and 488 local businesses. Working with the Environment Agency’s Decarbonisation Technology Accelerator (DTA) programme, one of the ways the project team are working to be more sustainable is by using a ternary blend concrete mix, dramatically reducing embodied carbon while still meeting project performance and durability standards.
